Is listening to music really that bad? This is the questions that pop up in my mind after reading an article on substack. And I kind of agree with the writer to some extent, especially on curate what enters your attention part.
Music affect your brain
Music can be therapeutic, there are claims specific kind of waves can make you focused and pump up your energy. They can stick around the internet because they have a similar scientific backing.
It is proved that music can react with emotional experience area of your brain. Which is why music can affect your mood (or energy level as some like to say).
Hence when choose the right song, music can help enhancing cognitive function, and potentially easing pain.
Choosing the right music
- Pick the right lyrics, especially when you are listening while working, curate what enters your subconscious mind
- Only listen to sad and melancholic songs when you need to release deep sadness
- Classical music and white noise is a better choice when you are trying to focus
- Don’t just listen, try practice it in some kind. And see the effect on neuroplasticity.
